“Bendy Em” the Contortionist

I came across a contortionist putting on a street show as I was leaving the MCA the other day. I joined the growing crowd around the woman outside the museum in time for these shots. The flexible lass called herself Emma or “Bendy Em”.

Then Emma said she’d be stuffing herself into a 16x16inch box. When she seemed to struggle to get into the box and remarked that “it looked bigger in the catalogue”, I thought she’d been kidding about fitting into that tiny space.

Thinking the show had ended, I left only to find out later on her website that she hadn’t been kidding.
