Minnamurra Rainforest
December 12th 2008 01:16
Escape the heat this summer beneath the subtropical canopy of the Minnamurra Rainforest in Buderoo National Park. Take a stroll surrounded by massive buttress roots, woody vines and diverse greenery that spill onto moss-carpeted rocks by the Minnamurra rivulet; these being a part of a remnant of what used to cover the Illawarra region.
The rainforest is a 2 hour drive from Sydney and is about 15km west of Kiama on the South Coast of NSW. The park opens at 9:00am and the gates close at 5:00pm. The daily vehicle entry fee is $11.
To see the rainforest, you can go on the Rainforest Loop Walk or the Falls Walk, both of which begin and end at the Visitor Centre.

The first 500 metres and last 100 metres are classified as steep. The remainder is undulating to flat surface.

After your walk, you might want to grab a bite at the Lyrebird café or make use of the picnic area and barbecue facilities. The café and Visitor Centre close at 4:00pm.
