Everything - by The Rusty Can

A short note

March 17th 2011 11:55
I’ve been busy lately and I’m about to get a whole lot busier; so before I get the getting-to-be-regular email, I thought I’d better post something.

I was going through my photos considering what I could post when I recalled taking some pictures of an awesome praying mantis at Art Express. Pictures taken on my new phone.

After finally installing the new software, I realised I didn’t know how to get the damn pictures out of the phone. I fiddled around with it and somehow lost a chunk of photos. The praying mantis wasn’t among them, but I still don’t know how to extract the thing…*mutter…mutter…* I’ll try again when I have the time.

Be back in a few weeks to post and read.

Hope all of you are well and if you’re in Japan, please take extra care!

Oops...

November 27th 2010 11:56
How time flies - even when I'm not having that much fun. The time to 'post or have your blog taken off you' has come again.

It isn't like I don't have time to write; it has just become a habit for me to crash on the couch when I got home. And lately, when I've regained consciousness, instead of turning on the puta to do some writing, I've been re-watching Band of Brothers. If you've seen it, you'll understand why I chose watching the series over writing. [ Click here to read more ]

I have been to a fair few weddings and I must say that the bonbonnieres have come a long way since the small bags of mints that used to be the norm.

These are 6 bonbonnieres I quite liked. There was a seventh bonbonniere that I really liked, but I have no photo of it… I ate it too quickly. It was a glorious glass of chocolate fudge. :9

Arrrggghhh!! Spiders!!

December 3rd 2008 03:13

Some people have Christmas lights at their place; I have bug carcasses on spider web decorating mine. The spiders that lurk around my place don’t venture indoors too often. Dusting and vacuuming regularly, using plastic for storage instead of cardboard boxes, not leaving clothes lying around or leaving food out and always taking out the garbage seem to keep the little intruders to a minimum.

spinning on my top was the last thing it ever did…
Every so often, armed with a broom and a good pair of shoes for stomping, I try to keep the spider numbers outside down without squealing too much like a sissy. I used to empty a can of bug spray on the window and door frames, but since I started having kids over I didn’t think that was such a good idea anymore. Besides, it’s quite cruel to get rid of bugs using the sprays; they tend to thrash around for a while before they died (though most sprays would sooner kill me than kill a spider

Splitting hairs

It isn’t easy finding a good hairdresser. I wouldn’t say that I’m fussy when it comes to getting my hair cut, but there are things that have kept me from going back to a hairdresser. In no particular order, some of these things include:

That didn’t sound right…

August 2nd 2008 07:10
If anyone saw Get Smart recently, they might recall a scene in the film where the Chief shouted, “It’s nuclear! NEW KLEE AH!!!” at the president who’d just said, “NEW KEE LAH”. You might even recall a crazy woman laughing in the audience saying in a loud whisper, “That’s me! That’s me!” of the Chief. That would’ve been yours truly. I totally understand the Chief’s little outburst.

When I first heard the word “nuclear” being pronounced “NEW KEE LAH”, I thought it was how Americans said it. That was around the same time I learned that aluminium was “aluminum” in the USA. Needless to say, I was mistaken
