I know what you mean, Rusty. I love looking up and finding things like these gems. Sometimes the most ordinary things can be beautiful and worth looking at again.

Rusty, you're well on your way, but a new camera and some slightly different perspectives would help you leap ahead.

I guess it will all come in time, meanwhile you've the right ideas.

Hi Rusty,

I am back from jaunting and I just wanted to say that these are rather magical. I often look up and think you have proved my point, that people who do not, miss a lot of magic residing just above their heads.

I really like that first one!

Lilla ..

Hey Tracy, it’s nice to know someone else who appreciates the beauty in commonplace things. Good to have you back!

Hi katyzzz, I tend to take pictures of interesting/pretty things or views without thinking much about photographic techniques. The photos I’ve been posting are old-ish, so they would reflect that tendency. Before I started reading your blog, the only photography thing that I was consciously aware of was to keep the horizon straight . I have since become a bit more aware of the different things you talk about which should be taken into account when taking a photo, but I think it’ll be a while until it comes naturally. I still have many old photos I would like to post but I will start to post newer photos as well... soon. As always, thanks for the encouragement!

Thankyou Lilla and good to see you . You’re right - there’s a lot more to see than what we can at eye level. I was pretty happy with how the first photo turned out. The lamp wasn’t much to look at on its own. It was looking a bit tired with its wonky wire frame, but it was transformed by the sunlight shining through it.
