Pic of the Week: Catching your own food

October 21st 2009 03:45
Teppanyaki barbecue beef

The only food I’d ever caught and eaten was fish until I stepped into this Japanese barbecue restaurant.

Diners had the option of cooking their own food, having their food cooked for them by a chef, or having their food cooked for them by a chef who would then throw most of it at them.

I wouldn’t have thought that I’d ever pay for a meal where I’d get burns, stains, and find stray grains of rice in unlikely places afterwards, but as it was a birthday dinner, we opted for the theatrics.

It was great when we managed to catch streaking chunks of omelette with our bowls, and when some of us caught steaming morsels with our mouths, though more often than not, the food ended up in our laps, chairs, hair, or at our feet.

Everyone had a great time catching flying bits of food, and it was pretty funny at times, but once is enough for me. I’d rather have good food go into my belly than go to the floor.

Pic of the Week: Rock Face

Jenolan Caves face in rock

I didn’t notice this until I did the Jenolan Caves post. In all the times that I have been to Jenolan, I don’t know how I could’ve missed the stern face in the rock overlooking the Blue Lake and the road into the caves

couple on steps of Customs House Sydney

This isn’t a very good photo. The sun light had already receded behind Customs House*, leaving it looking rather drab.

Pic of the Week: “Gift Bag”

gift bag and card
Uh… Surprise!

The easiest way to wrap a handbag would probably be to wrap it lightly in tissue paper, then put it in a gift box and tie it off with a nice ribbon – or stuff it in a gift bag

house on a misty mountain

I took this photo one cool afternoon as I was about to leave the Jenolan Caves. Imagine curling up with a cup of hot chocolate in that house, enjoying the view and the peace and quiet. As Liz Lemon would say, “I want to go to there

Pic of the Week: Colourful Crackers

tomato avocado cream cheese crackers

These yummy morsels were my sister’s idea. I was part of the production line spooning diced tomato, avocado and sweet chilli sauce on crackers spread with cream cheese. They were easy to put together and easier to polish off

Blue Mountains wooden stairs
On and on they go…

Another lot of scenery photos taken by running ahead to get clear of other bushwalkers, waiting politely for sweaty people to huff and puff past me, or taken while huffing and puffing on sweaty, wobbly legs
