Spit Bridge to Manly Walk

Take a stroll past small beaches, through the Sydney Harbour National Park and pockets of bushland along the water’s edge between Manly Beach and the Spit Bridge.

I suggest starting your morning at the Spit Bridge. That way, you can cool off with a quick dip when you get to Manly and have fish and chips on the beach. It took us about 4 hours to get there. We set an average pace, stopping every so often to have a break. Some of the steps were a bit harsh on the legs.

Don’t feel like walking for that long? You can choose one of the shorter walks that make up the Manly-Spit route.

See the webpage below for a list of the walks including the distances, approximate time needed and the walking grade for each walk. Also on the page is a great map that shows helpful things like where you can enter the tracks, picnic areas, lookouts, toilets and bus stops.

Bows and Arrows for Fun

Orlando Bloom with his pretty Barbie tresses looked like he was having fun shooting all those arrows in LOTR and he probably was enjoying it. That's because archery is fun – and very satisfying when your arrow hits the target. Want to give it a go?

Drawn to the Museum of Contemporary Art by the extravagant 18th century costumes made from gorgeous Dutch-wax printed cotton, I was somewhat surprised by the sight of headless mannequins in such finery posed in various acts of debauchery under a suspended carriage (link to photos below).

***Updated 23 February 2009***

Bring your picnic rugs and beach chairs to watch a movie under the stars! You might also want to bring a jacket in case the night gets cool and insect repellent to keep the mozzies away. I realise I’m a bit late in putting this together… some free events have ended and most of the tickets for the Open Air Cinema have been sold… D’oh! The following screenings take place during summer with the exception of the Drive-in theatre, which is open all year

Star Wars fans can find over 80 models, props and costumes from all six of the movies at the exhibition starting tomorrow. See C-3PO, R2-D2, Luke’s original landspeeder from Episode IV, Luke and Anakin’s prosthetic hands, an original Yoda puppet and much more.

The hands-on design labs will allow visitors to do such things as creating a virtual community; programming a robot to navigate through a droid factory; and building a levitating vehicle they could test on a magnetic track
