Wishing Owls for the New Year
January 14th 2013 11:03
In the blink of an eye, we’re already 14 days into the year! It’s high time I started posting again.
For my first post of the year, I have chosen to feature these super cute, fabric owls from Japan.
Why owls? Owl, I mean, I’ll tell you why.
Owls are associated with good fortune in Japan. In Japanese, owl is fukurou (pronounced FOO KOO RAW). Written in different characters, fu means no and kurou means suffering/hardship, which gives us no suffering. Also, fuku means good fortune.
That is why I have started off with these beautiful owls – wishes of good fortune and no hardship for the year ahead.
