Sweet things for the holiday season

December 22nd 2011 07:13
Christmas: the Australian women’s weekly cookbook cover
Sparkly decorations, icing sugar snow, pretty paper, and ribbons curled just so. It’s hard not to get caught up in the festive mood thumbing through this gem of a cookbook.

This beautiful, little book contains all things sweet: puddings, cakes, fudge, ice cream, brownies, nougat, tarts, biscuits, jams and more, including a clever recipe that will have kids eating fibre – a recipe for mini gingerbread houses, which uses All-bran on the roof.

While the recipes are yummy additions to the Christmas table, many of them are perfect as gifts. There are even a couple of pages on gift packaging ideas. I particularly like the suggestion of using paper doilies to dress up jars.

If cooking doesn’t appeal to you, the cookbook itself is a great gift. You might even want to leave a bookmark conveniently on the, say, Parisian macaroons recipe. Mmm…

Ocean Room: Petit Tasty Photos

May 9th 2011 06:15
Time again to share some pretty pictures. This time from the lovely Ocean Room, which beautifully presents modern Japanese cuisine.

The quality of the food was impressive even on (or perhaps because of) my burger and fries palate. I savoured every last bit of it and this is coming from someone who, usually, isn’t a fan of raw fish

A short note

March 17th 2011 11:55
I’ve been busy lately and I’m about to get a whole lot busier; so before I get the getting-to-be-regular email, I thought I’d better post something.

I was going through my photos considering what I could post when I recalled taking some pictures of an awesome praying mantis at Art Express. Pictures taken on my new phone

Oops...

November 27th 2010 11:56
How time flies - even when I'm not having that much fun. The time to 'post or have your blog taken off you' has come again.

It isn't like I don't have time to write; it has just become a habit for me to crash on the couch when I got home. And lately, when I've regained consciousness, instead of turning on the puta to do some writing, I've been re-watching Band of Brothers. If you've seen it, you'll understand why I chose watching the series over writing. [ Click here to read more ]

yes

Telegraph poles: a haven for garage sale notices, photos of lost pooches, posters, ads, scams and rolls of sticky tape.
